So the car is on all four wheels and it can be pushed in and out of the way. I had the driveline shortened, balanced and converted to a three bolt flange. Supposedly this is stronger. I don't know but I changed the flange on the transmission to the four bolt but it would not fit. I must have pulled the wrong part but after pulling the failed attempt I was over it.

The tranny is pretty close the left side tunnel wall.

So it's been a couple of days since my last update. I get a little bored with this site because it's so far behind where I actually am with this car. So I apologize. Where was I....... Ahh yes, Ordered the correct Wilwood pads for the front. They come with the notch to clear the caliper retaining rod. Reconciled the problem with the brake lines. you will need an adapter for the line to the caliper. I solved this by emailing Lee at Massive Brakes. He sent me a set of front brake lines with the adapters for the calipers. Perfect fit and the lines are of the highest quality. For anyone doing a brake conversion, don't buy your stainless steel lines until you have all your brake parts together.

Plenty of clearance with the big wheelzz.

For the rear I went with the VW disc conversion. You can search this conversion for the full how tos. I used 84 GTI calipers with the mechanical e-brake lever, cross drilled rotors (cheap) and mounting brackets from www.bmw2002.com. What I forgot to get was VW stainless steel brake lines. The set I had for the rear were female on both ends. The VW caliper accepts a male end. Like I said, wait. Also I had to have the rear hubs machined to fit inside the rotor.

Okay so, I did a search on .http://www.bmw2002faq.com and found out about some other big brake options. Save yourself some time and just search the name Lee Voung on the faq. Asian Rob did some research and bought a set of Wilwoods on eBay for $80.00 each. I wasn't tripping at first until I saw the calipers in person. Then I had to have them. I went on eBay and bought 2 sets from the same guy. With the help of Lee's extra large brain I found out that since my car was a Tii, the Wilwood Superlite 1.75 calipers would bolt up to my struts with washers and work with the 320i cross drilled vented rotors and hubs that I had already invested in. I would only use 2 of the 4 front stainless steel lines that I had and would need male adapters to connect them to the calipers. Non Tii cars need a bracket to mount the calipers to the strut. Of course Lee makes this bracket as well as a Massive Brake Kit which is tight. I've seen it up close and the fit and finish is excellent. Like I said, I got a bag of new red urethane bushings from BMP. So I abandoned my shiny new engine and tranny and pulled my suspension apart. This is my buddy Blunts fault. Looking at his shiny new everything and my wife saying, " why doesn't yours look like his?" Even though I promised myself that I would just make it run. It wouldn't hurt to clean it up a little.

Took a few parts to get the hang of the POR 15. Reggie says its all in the stroke. He said, "stroke"

Bilstein struts. Almost bought Ground Control coil overs and camber plates but decided I need to ride in a car that has them first. I'm scurred they might be loud and super ruff. If you have em , had em, or have an opinion let me know.

Plasticote Krinkle paint. Before Jose backed over it with a car. Then pulled forward over it again. to see what he backed over. While it was drying in the sun.

I used 2002 axles with 320i cv's at the differential. New boots por'd. I wasted a lot of time taking pics of the whole process, none of which i'm going to post.

I finally got my 3.91 Lsd. I had 1 core 3.64 lsd that someone ran without oil. And another that turned funny. Plus 3.91 is closer to the 4.10 that the e30 M3 came with. Someone posted on the faq that there were three 320is' at the Oaktown pick n pull. So me and Asian Rob drove down there and sure enough they were there. But only one car had the diff in it. And Asian Rob drove. So being the good Christian I am, I sat there and watched while this nutjob pay $67 for it. Everyone on eBay wants $250 plus $75 shipping for one. I almost won a whole 320is for $500 but lost. Got a call from Bavarian Auto Recycling. They had one. Worked it out. I was so happy, I dorked out. painted it and polished the S 3.91 tag.

From the way the output shafts pulled out of the diff I suspected I did something wrong. After proper research, I discovered that I was supposed to use 320i axle shafts with 2002 cv's outboard.

So engine is being built with new Bavarian Maxsil Pistons t.m. We'll see how they work. Pretty lightweight. Block was cut to fit. They supplied rings to go with them. Had a bit of trouble installing pistons. Rings kept popping out. After ramming my head into the wall, breaking all my tools, and beating my wife, I figured out the problem. To be brief, never use anything out of a box that has been taped closed. Someone put the wrong piston rings into the right box. My bad, should have put one in the block to check for gap first. Oh well, my wife didn't press charges. Mixed and matched a new M3 oil pump with a used 02 pick up.

It's been a couple of months I know. I know. I just get bored with updating this thing with old junk. Here's another depressing picture

At this time the car was still a roller. My plan as stated earlier was to only make this Golf Kart (as they call it in the shop) run, and do the body and suspension later. But I when me and buddy Asian Rob received shiny new red urethane bushings from BMP, I figured a weekend suspension sidebar was a good idea. And it usually is unless your Project Bi Polar like me.

Look how happy and content it looks. Minding it's own business, waiting for its @#$% (i mean power) envy compensation.

But I put my hands on him anyway. With uber enthusiasm of course. Like I do with everything. First I did the big brake upgrade using 320i hubs and vented rotors, and 528i calipers.

Stainless Steel lines and cross drilled rotors look purrrdee. And I was content with this until..... Later on that.

Got a call from the machine shop. Del's Machine shop that is, in Sacatomatoes.

They missed a spot

Forgot to take a pic of the head. Never assembled an S14 engine before but started anyway. Used common and uncommon sense, ETK, Alldata, crack, coffee and this http://e30m3performance.com/index.html. Wordup.

This chain tensioner on the left is over $400 retail. Also, you can not buy rod bushings separate from anyone for this motor. You have to buy a complete set of rods. I did not do that.

I test fit the transmission on an extra "ventilated" block I had. I was wondering what sensor was mission that so much light was shining into the block.

Maybe a test fit. So's I knows where to bang the tunnel for 5spd and tranny mount reloc, driveblah blah blah. The same ole junk ery'one does with their old German cars. Why do I even bother with this site. I'm not the first. Not really helpful. Oh yeah, I got a C drive full of pictures of dirty car parts slowly turning into clean car parts. There might be one pic of something you needed to see. Hopefully it's not blurry and my finger isn't in it.

While the engine was at the machine shop, I sent the 320 tranny off to have the bellhousing modified.

I did a little grinding on the inside to because stuff was a hitting.

When I was able to move around without the crutches I tore the S14 apart to see what I could see.

Sent it to the machine shop so they could tell me what's really good. Turns out not much. Block is tapered. So I could not use the same pistons. Water passages on the head had been eaten away by coolant. A few bent valves. Toasted guides, rails and tensioners.

It took a couple of trips to Bavarian before I found a head that was useable. Did I forget to mention that I got a great deal because I bought the motor as a core?

Got the front fixed

So what's the first thing a brotha does with his ride? PUT SOME RIMS ON IT STUPID!

The wheels are 7.5 X 16inch TSW Hockenheim's from an e30. Tires are 205 50 16. They made my car look like BMW's version of a Donk. Couple of problems here. No left turns. Found this out on a trip to the store. I had to make 5 rights to get into the parking lot. With a little help from the guys on 2002faq I bought some lower profile tires. Sumitomo 205 40 16's. I found a set of 26 inchers but I don't have enough for tires. That's my buddies car on the right.

Oh I lowered it too. After I got all the lowering springs in, the back was a little high. So I cut half a spring off the right rear and test drove it. When I got back it sat perfect. That scares me a lil'.

Drove it around like this for about a year. Repairs included, replacing center bearing, and changing over to a 320i radiator. Got the car up past 105 mph. Maybe even 110 mph. Fa realz. The gauge was a little foggy. I tried it again another day but shifting later. I shifted to late and blew my head gasket. Started getting water in the oil, but no oil in the water. Huge plumes of thick white coolant smoke out the tail pipe. Still drove it though. Put something red in the radiator and kep it movin. But I decided I wanted to go S14 about this time. Blew up the engine again and bought an S14 engine from Bavarian Auto Recycling. It came with everything. Longblock - intake, exhaust, throttles, injection harness, computer, alt, starter; ERRYTHANG! And a promise that whatever I needed could be gotten. I sink dats engrish. They also told me the motor was worked pretty hard as are most 20 year old street legal race engines. and broke me off a set of their Maxsil pistons and some rings. Say what you will about them but if it's BMW they got it.

So I pulled the engine out of my car. It only took half an hour.

I went skatboarding that night and broke my ankle. That only took 10 minutes.

So project was on hold.....
